Also called, cryotherapy, this is among the most popular method of relieving joint pain. For maximum effectiveness, apply an ice pack for 15 minutes, every hour throughout the day. The following day, apply the ice pack about five times, again for 15 minutes at a time. To avoid ice burns, never apply the ice directly onto skin; use an ice pack, or wrap ice in a cloth or plastic bag.

This method uses warm water to help relieve joint pressure. Try a warm bath with epsom salts, or just immerse the affected area in water and massage gently.

Over the counter medications can do wonders for your overall joint health and can help relieve pain and pressure. Ibuprofen, an anti-steroidal inflammatory drug works fast and can have you up and around in a timely manner.

When exercising, choose an activity that aligns with your pain limit. Sometimes, though, light exercise and stretching can help ease joint pain.
